Well it's been a fun-filled week for Mr. Gulliver... it took him a little while to warm up to his St. Louis relatives. But by Wednesday he was feeling much more comfortable and having a grand time!
The week has been filled with playing with trains, reading, nordic skiing, completing the 1,000 piece Christmas puzzle, jabbering, eating, singing, dancing, playing cards, building a gingerbread house, building blocks, practicing walking, rolling the ball, and much much more. The house will feel a little bit emptier once the crew departs.

Have I Mentioned Lately?
...that fever was related to teething.
He now has eight teeth!
...how fast Gulliver is at crawling?
Sometimes it seems as though he crosses from one end of the room to the other in a blink of an eye. Our little Speedy Gonzales.
...how much this guy eats?
He's like a bottomless pit. Sometimes he'll get 4 or 5 different types food at a meal - and then STILL want more! If he sees me eating something, he immediately wants some, too. I keep telling myself it's not possible to overfeed him. And one day, I'm going to have to BEG him to finish off all his broccoli. But not today.
...what a flirt he is?
Those eyes. And that smile. Ooohhh, that smile.
...what a good sleeper Gulliver is?
We have many challenging moments through the course of a typical day. Sleeping isn't one of them.
...how well he climbs?
Gulliver has figured out how to climb on top of stuff. He loves climbing all over his mom and dad. He climbs into the dogs' beds on a regular basis. He loves climbing up to look out the window. Today he climbed on top of boxes, bins, and right up into his rocking chair. He is King of the Hill!
...what a good dancer he is? ;)
...how very much I love this little guy???
Bunches and bunches and BUNCHES!!!

Santa Comes to Town
Santa came early to Crested Butte this year... on the same day OU claimed its seventh Big 12 title with a 23-20 win over Nebraska. While dad watched the big game, Gulliver and I headed to town to visit the jolly guy in red. Gulliver proved to be a lot braver than his mom was for his first photo with Santa!

On the Move
Now that Gulliver has become a little busy-body, he gets himself into all kinds of predicaments. Sometimes I just follow him around with the camera.
If there are books on the shelves, he'll pull them all out...
If a door is left open to a room where he does not belong, he is the first one to notice...
If there is room, he'll crawl under it...
If he can pull up on it, he will...
And if he can crawl into it, he does...
Life is so much more exciting when you're on the move!

Sick? Or Teething?
When Gulliver awoke from his afternoon nap on Tuesday, his cheeks were flaming red. I knew immediately he had a fever. Sure enough, a touch to the forehead confirmed he was burning up. The thermometer showed 102.5 degrees. The fever appeared out of nowhere.
He was in remarkably good spirits considering how crummy he must have been feeling. Since he didn't have a runny nose, cough, or congestion - and he was drooling like a leaky faucet - we concluded that the fever must be teething-related.
He finished a bottle and snuggled with mom in the rocking chair. He even dozed off in my arms, which he never does anymore. That night, he slept restlessly. I got up several times through the night when I heard him fussing, only to find that he was asleep, but fitful. Finally at 5:00am he woke up crying like crazy. He gulped down 11 ounces of formula and some applesauce and then settled back down until 9:00am.
We spent a lot of time cuddling, reading, and playing quietly that day - in the basement, in the family room, in his bedroom, in our bedroom. He took naps in between. And the boy had a ferocious appetite. Through the course of 24 hours, he had a total of 42 ounces of formula (he usually has 24), applesauce, chicken broth, yogurt, pears, bananas, turkey, sweet potatoes, bread, and cheese. He couldn't get enough food. But Gulliver lacked the usual sparkle in his eyes...
By 7:00 pm or so, the fever had subsided and he was just about back to normal. He was crawling around, laughing, and playing. I think he was just happy to be feeling good again. Finally at 9:00 pm, we put him down for bed. He slept through the night and has been back on track ever since. It's nice to have our happy little boy back!
We'll be watching for more teeth to appear soon....
