We signed up for "Munchkin Music" a few weeks ago and it is is such a wonderful class! We sing songs, play instruments, stomp around like elephants, shake eggs, dance with scarves, and do all kinds of other fun stuff. It's a whole lot of entertainment rolled into one!

Alpenglow Concert
We went to the first Alpenglow Free Concert in the Park of the season on Monday night. The weather was perfect, and it seemed like the whole town was there! Ga Ga arrived that afternoon, so we got to enjoy the show with her. We packed a picnic basket and ate dinner while enjoying the live music. Gulliver danced to the beat and explored the crowd in our immediate vicinity. This is definitely one of my favorite events of summer.

Town Park / Farmer's Market
Gulliver and I headed to town this morning to play at Rainbow Park. It was one of those gorgeous mornings that just begged to be enjoyed outdoors. Then we headed to the Farmer's Market and picked up a couple items for lunch and dinner... sweet cherries and fresh goat cheese. Yum! I just love Farmer's Markets. So many tantalizing items to buy.
Some other pics from the week....
Daddy left yesterday for a business trip all week. Gulliver is going to be missing his best buddy...

Warm, Sunny Summer Days = Busy, Busy, Busy!
Gulliver is asleep, Mark is playing horseshoes, and I'm almost caught up on work, which hasn't happened in about three weeks. So I'm finally catching up on the blog…
Summer is in full swing in Crested Butte. One day has been nicer than the next and we are taking full advantage of it. Even with all the extra daylight, it's tough to fit enough hours into the day.
We started our first vegetable garden. Took some prep work, but we are finally there! Mark built 2 raised beds (4' x 10') in the backyard.
I planted seeds in one and put plants in the other. I'm very excited about our new project. We'll see how things turn out as the season progresses. I'm keeping the plants covered for now because it has been so windy.
Gulliver plays in the backyard while I water each morning. He's getting better and better at navigating all the different sized rocks we have lurking around. And I'm getting better at keeping the dog poop picked up.
Waving at cars and trucks that pass by has become a new favorite pastime. Whether we are in front of the house, at the park, or somewhere in between, Gulliver hardly ever misses one.
Hand straight up in the air...
Eyes focused...
Doesn't stop the salute until he's sure the vehicle has passed.
He gets many waves (and smiles) in return.
Mark played in the Member / Member golf tournament and took second place in their flight.
Gulliver is slowly trying to drop his second nap. He'll go a day or two in a row taking one nap right after lunch. But then the next day, he's ready for that morning nap again.
We went to our first music class. Gulliver absolutely LOVED it.
Gulliver is really starting to show his independence. He likes to pick his own food out of the fridge.
He also likes it when decisions are his, not mine or dad's. For instance, one of our challenges is rinsing all the shampoo out of Gulliver's hair during bath time. He HATES it! So tonight - instead of pinning him down and gently maneuvering his head back - I said, "Gulliver, can you tip your head back like this?" and showed him how to tip it back. He did. And then I rinsed his head with a cup of water. Not a drop went in his eyes. "Can you do it again?" and he did. And he laughed. And he smiled. Afterall, it was his idea… not mine.
Hmmm…what else? Oh yes, I turned 41. We celebrated my birthday by going in to town. Ride the Rockies kicked off that day and town was hopping. We ate dinner on the deck of the Ginger Cafe and enjoyed the mild evening. Happy Birthday to me!
Mark spent the whole weekend hanging out with Gulliver. I don't think I changed a diaper, cut up sweet potatoes, or selected an outfit for 2 days straight. I just did the "fun stuff" and left the dirty work to dad. It was a wonderful treat.
It was clear Gulliver enjoyed the companionship as we all hung out together on the kitchen floor Sunday night. He went into his room, picked out a book, and then brought it straight to dad to read. Never even glanced at me. Then he picked out a second book and did the same thing. This kid really likes his daddy. And vice-versa.
Yes, summer is in full swing. There are rocks to be thrown, bugs to be examined, balls to be tossed, and birds to find. We are enjoying my favorite season, keeping very busy, and having tons of fun!

iPod Touch
It's no surprise that Gulliver is interested in my iPod Touch. It's small, shiny, and occupies my attention. He is now capable of pushing the button to turn it on and using his finger to swish the unlock bar across the screen. So I decided to download a couple apps for him. The one we like best is Shapes. Several shapes appear on the screen and a voice instructs us to "touch the triangle." When he touches the correct shape, the sound of applause is heard. Gulliver just loves the applause... he claps his hands and giggles. It's pretty darn sweet.
