Aunt Marilyn and Uncle Leon

Aunt Marilyn and Uncle Leon stopped by on the way home to Amarillo following their Alaska vacation. They got to see the Little Red Schoolhouse when we all picked Gulliver up from school together. Gulliver enjoyed playing trains (of course) and cards with Uncle Leon, reading the Alaska book with Aunt Marilyn, and inspecting the route map with a cool magnifying glass. And the grilled cheese sandwich at the Last Steep was a hit. It was a short visit, but so glad they went out of their way to come see us!

Sleep Transitions

Gulliver has always loved his crib even though it has never had a lot of "extras" like pillows, blankets, animals and such. Last month he started sleeping with a stuffed animal, Lady. Then we gave him a pillow, which he loved, and finally a quilt to snuggle up in. He loved all his new goodies. He even added a teddy bear to the mix.

Because we put the tent over the crib, he stayed in there much longer than he would have otherwise. He's getting so big now it just seemed like it was time to move to a bed. So last week we put his new "big boy" bed in his room. He took to it immediately.

He's successfully taken two naps and one full night's sleep in the new bed. Derby and the Wolf have joined the other two sleeping pals. Gulliver crawls under the covers, puts his head on the pillow, and snuggles up to all his friends.  He looks so cozy! Guess it will soon be adios to the crib.

CB South Concert

Last week was the final Alpenglow concert of the season in CB South. Summer is winding down. The weather was chilly and we got just a bit of rain, but the concert was still a good time and we enjoy having this fun event within walking distance of the house.

Camping

We camped out Saturday up Cement Creek Road with a big group of adults and kids. Lots of fun things to do… playing with trains, golfing, tossing the football, throwing rocks into the river, roasting marshmallows, jumping on air mattresses, riding the Strider bike, playing in the tent, and just having fun outside.

This was Gulliver's first time sleeping in a tent. He did fabulous! The temp dropped below freezing overnight, but he wasn't phased. He was asleep by 9pm and woke up at 6:45 the next morning. He occupied himself in the tent for another 45 minutes by reading books and playing with trucks.

The boys had the campfire blazing by the time we got up, and it was a welcome warmth!  Brrrrr…. the kiddos enjoyed breakfast while warming their little fingers and toesies.

A very fun camping trip. We are lucky to live so close to such beautiful places... this campsite was less than 10 miles away.
